The Red Bull Air Race in HD CGI


Take that city and every polygon in there and render the textures to it. Thats a lot of textures. That would be called texture baking. You would get a static time of day but in exchange for it you would get a sim to look like this animated video. The benefit would be in virtually eliminating the lighting calculations on the city and landscape. Which I think are crap in every flight sim. The fugliest part of any sim is the landscape and the lighting. Maybe there are a few FSX sceneries that are nice but they require mega machines. Will flight sims take a hint from FPS games and bake the textures? No it won't happen. I'm just pointing out how it could look.

Or maybe some see it my way. Here are some baked cockpits. Now if we could just get the scenery baked. I'd prefer to have the lighting dynamic in the cockpit and static on the scenery.
