Do you have Il2 installed anymore? I do not. With more planes, maps, features and performance than any combat simulator ever made it has almost nobody playing online. Almost nobody is more than Condor and RoF combined.  When I think that the next Oleg sim will have far fewer planes and require a bigger computer I wonder why I am waiting around and not playing with IL2. I think I just had my fill after 6 or so years. My fill of the best flight sim ever... until the next one comes out and is even better. |

From a post @JO S~! Gentlemen I came across this video yesterday. To me its sets the standard for polygon count, texture size, lods, SCALING and engine performance. Its what we should be expecting in Olegs Storm of War in terms of graphics..... but after talking to dev team people today .... don't hold breath  Well anyways ..... I liked the visuals so much I got into the Beta. Its expected to go Gold in the next month or so. Thanks for the video - is the PC version of this significantly different than the Playstation 3/Xbox versions?

finiehed downloading the whole 4.0 and 4.1 HSFX.. well this is suppose to be better since it's AAA's plus more.

Good question Gunny. What have they been working on all this time? An X-box game. Is it just for the money in the console? Mostly console games kind of suck but they don't have to use bad physics and 360 degree spinning infantry shooters. If it wasn't different than the PC then I would really consider the shift to a console platform. You get a whole gaming rig except the screen and peripherals for Xbox 360 Arcade $199 Xbox 360 $299 Xbox 360 Elite $399 No dicking around with hardware and software. Everyone gets the same fps. The developer knows exactly what to code for. The rig doesn't need an upgrade for a long time compared to a PC. Which can range from double to ten times the cost. Btw that video was very pretty. If you could get your X-Box hooked up to a highspeed cable internet connection then I would see the lessening of popularity of the PC platform in the near future. It would be good to hear from someone who has played both. I look at $399 compared to the PC cost and really see a disparity. I can almost hear it already, N00b f@g and Jesus Died LOL cluttering up the crappy voice comms. |

Well, since you mention it.....
Nerferwerfer's son (my nephew) has an PS3 as does my son. They both d/l the demo and said it was pretty. Nerfer says it looks really cool, but the initial impression is that the "fleshed out" campaign interface feels more like an FPS than Il2.
That's all 2nd hand.... maybe I'll see it on PS3 this season.....
Peripherials I think, and "toning it down" for the non-sim-FPS folks will ruin it I'm afraid. But, we'll see....
BTW - PS3 is much prettier than Xbox, for me. The greatest problem with all this is that XBox can't play MP with PC or PS3 and vice versa.
These are all stovepipe platforms and for now, I'll stick with the PC.
