My wife is great!  All I have to say Smiley

D/L'd the hardware/ops/programming *.pdf's - they have really changed what used to be called Foxy.  Yes, you can still script but the language is a bit different.

The up side is that the software allows all sorts of assignments itself - GUI based.  This should be interesting.

Pics as soon as I get it - which should be Thursday.

So it'll be programmed in the following order:

- Rise of Flight
- Il2
- maybe A10 if I get it soon.

Yeas i really was looking into this til i saw the "trimming" missing rotary buttons but i hope to read much more about all this in your honest balanced review. Wink  .. exiting !!! And to me everything will depend on this artcle.. and i will know if i have to just built my own controls with old aircraft parts..

I saw the Tarmac pedals and man those pedals are not like in the video their new ones get attached individually from the top with cables going on the rear, so where i am suppose to attached them to my desk? and if i do attached them to the desk any strong pressure applyied to the pedal make my monitor move.. so it is an blank idiotic setup for a desk.  GrRRRR!! To a point that it give the mood to open the window and yell outside a bit to decompress..

For:

IL2, FC2/A10, SoW

(Completly burned on RoF)

Well - I've posted a few "preliminary notes" at ROF and at Olegs forums.  Stubing, who had an Evenstrain modded Cougar was looking for feedback and was about to take the plunge.

If you have a mod Cougar - (many don't) - you really need to think hard about this purchase.  Stick is stiffer - only 1 rotary (the lever on the throttle) - programming software has a long way to go to get to Foxy.  Switches are stiffer and have a much longer throw (travel) to actuate.

For all the noise made about the joystick - that noise has been made by Jet guys.  The stick may be a little more accurate than the Hall equipped Cougars - however, how much accuracy is usable.  Biggest downside for me is the Center Detent - which it has.

In short - there are surely pluses - particularly on the Throttle - and certainly if you fly twin engine.  As an A-10 replica - it's certainly get high marks.  But, I'm not much of an A10 guy.  For Black Shark I think it's an improvment over what I have.

I won't really know for a few weeks.

If you have a U2Nxt or Evenstrain Cougar and fly only prop sims - I'd pass on it.  If you fly everything or Jets - I'd say buy it now.

Again, it's all preliminary - I might change my mind after I "break in" these controls.....

Thanks Gunny it is what i was afraid of .. Rotary/centering point !! :|
For my part i have no time to dedicate on cruising at RoF and Oleg forum yet.. So i miss a lot of things, For now I'm going to Sabath's TUSA, ultrapack's where i'm involved and very interesting, Lockon's.. that's about it for Simulations !  Wink

Understand Gozr.  We are in the same boat, in different phases.  Hopefully, I'll get back to GS at some point.

More flying today with the Warthawg.  The center detent is very annoying to me in ROF.  It reminds me of my unmod Cougar.  The Throttle section however, I believe I like better - with the only caveat being I wish I had two sliders instead of 1.

I'm probably running out of time to return this thing - but I'll check my reciept today.  $500 dollars on top of what I've put into my Cougar is quite silly.  Hopefully when I check, I'll find I have a week or so left.

If I am stuck with it, I'll bet it turns out where - at least in the short term, I'll use the Cougar Joystick with the Warthawg Throttles.

Again the caveat - I'm a minority - and I've only tested on ROF - where the airspeeds are very slow and the elevator, rudder and aileron deflections are greatest.   Il2 will come at some point soon - then I'll really see.

I am certain of one thing - If your are a Saitek user - or only have a stock Cougar - the Warthawg is a large upgrade for you.

I'm beginning to love the Warhawg throttles.....  If Il2 had stock split/separate throttles I'd have been here long ago - SOW I think split throttles are  a must.

As I said in the ROF 1.016b thread - flying the Handley Page 0/400 is a lot of fun - so far.  I got hit with flak and lost a section of my left wing - was able to control and eventually land by using both throttles at uneven settings.

I'm almost certain Ill end up with a "Fraken-Cougarhawg".

So - we use the Warthawg handle on the Cougar base to get the U2Nxt action - and the Warthawg throttle

-------------------------Plus------------------------------

We take the Cougar throttle apart and afix the rotaries, switches and hats to a panel and...........

I know Gozr that only you can imagine this............  and I see you smile!!!!!!!!!!

Given Egg's one must make Souffle, right?
