I remember my first Zigrat encounter: I was flying with Gunny, we were climbing in DVIIFs out from Lac-Nuisement, higher than the swirling hordes of T&B riff-raff, and this SPAD was shadowing us. I'd only just gotten back to the online world after my years away and didn't recognize the name...Gunny was tasked with the destruction of a Camel that was working his way towards us. I told him I'd keep an eye on the SPAD, but the SPAD pilot wasn't waiting around, he swooped down, I did my evasion that "always works" (unless I don't see them coming) but my pilot was bloodied. Surprised by this, my pulse accelerated and this SPAD became the focus. He had the energy, but was always "right there", he's not one of those oh so common SPAD/Se5a jocks that just extends because he doesn't know what else to do. His use of the vertical reminded me of the TX Doctrine of ASS KICKING that people feared (but loved to witness) so much in the olden days. The experience was the same for me, I wanted to shoot his ass down really badly, but at the same time I loved watching energy managed in such expert fashion by someone that knows just what that means, but who balances it with killer knife fighting skills too. His gunnery and awareness of the adversary are excellent! He made a few more passes on me, and my already wounded pilot was starting to curse his choice of careers. I managed to escape down into the fray and sneak back to base with a little less blood and oil onboard, but with a healthy dose of respect for that damn SPAD pilot.

While he is one of the most feared SPAD pilots around, he's a killer in just about anything, a great wingman, and a good guy all around. I've loved fighting with or against him and am happy to welcome him to TX-SQUADRON.

Welcome TX-Zigrat!
