Will this cure my "nvidia caused a critical error in windows, click here to send a report to microsoft" error? 5 unexpected reboots per day gets old and I secretly suspect that my beautiful card might be going bad. Call it paranoia but I have that prickly feeling the hardware is going south. Also, what is the deal with DX9? Is it going to improve something?TX-ZenBlack 6TX Squadron CO

About what is causing the Nvidia faults...sounds like the drivers are corrupt. Would re-install... 41.09 work great for me now. If you are using a Pent based system you dont need the Via drivers.DirectX 9 will increase performance across the board for games. http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Heights/3098/about.htmlechoechoecho.............

I have reinstalled the latest drivers. This problem seems to happen most when GV and UBI are running. Used older drivers as well, renamed the local profile on the machine etc. No luck. Getting hammered pretty hard by this. Suggestions welcome.TX-ZenBlack 6TX Squadron CO

No problem devices listed under windows manford.I suspect that its primarily UBI. Another thing that I have noticed is that when running any graphics oriented program like Photoshop or IL2, the machine runs properly. When only GV and UBI are up the screen flickers intermittently and then the machine crashes. BlootTX-ZenBlack 6TX Squadron CO

Having a tendancy to lean to agreeing something in ubi or GV. Heres a problem I have while running GV.... If I am behind someone and shooting and someone talks WHILE I am shooting my game freezes dead for approx. 2-3 secs...or as long as they are talking. Maybe GV and IL-2 are trying to share the same ports for voice comms. I did go into the setup program and turn the IL-2 voice comms off but I see that they turn on all by themselvers periodically and need to be manually shut off again.Black2

My problem I am incountering has the triangle effect in which everything I suspect leads back to one another. When I started having this problem was the time frame that I recieved an email from my isp Charter stating that they now offer 3 packages. The three packages are bronze, silver and gold. Gold is suppose to be the one best suited for gamers. Now around the same time I installed the new nvidia drivers and the new cougar/foxy software. And of course, might have even started having the problem when the new ubi software was released, but cant remember exactly.I don't have the problems in the game as far as lag. It doesnt happen when I shoot and I haven't noticed any kind of pattern. I simply drop from GV, ubi, and loose connection to the game of IL-2.Last night I was in game voice but wasn't connected to ubi. I was actually in a SP game of Ghost Recon. I dropped from GV 4 times. 2 or 3 of which were one right after the other. The 4th time I finally said screw and went to bed.I get no errors, lockups or spontanious restarts. I just get red bars in IL-2 (so i disconnect and exit game), see ubi trying to restart (usually get the message, ubi has not detected your disconnection yet try again later), and a message from GV stating that I have lost chat due to losing connection to internet or host (can't remember exact words).I have been thinking it was my isp kinda of doing hiccups so I would have to upgrade packages. Usually when my cable resets, all the modem lights restart, but with this problem they do not.S~Black 5... end ...

Cage as for your issue make sure that the power saving option is NOT checked in the properties of your NIC so that the PC does not shut off power to it when it senses no activity...i have seen this on 98SE ME and 2000/XP...it does exactly what you describe and is quite frustrating..i fixed the same issue on my CS buds timeout issues on his cable connection....hell give it a shot...cant hurt but sure can do a lot of HELP! What you need Zen if ya dont got it is Detonator Destroyer i found it on google..removes all traces of nvidia drivers and allows the reinstall of clean ones.I also had a similar problem but going to the latest WHQL Detonators seems to have fixed that...just my experience in this same situation...hope it helps.(ex-ATT Tier2 Tech)TX-Razor Blue 4over and out.

Thanks for the tip Raz, but it looks like 2K and XP are not supported. I wonder if there is any risk with using it anyway, my knowledge of the Nvidia drivers is that its pretty much the same across all PC OS's. I may give it a try tonight though. Thanks for the hint...I wasn't thinking along those lines. TX-ZenBlack 6TX Squadron CO

2000 and XP are completely different drivers as opposed to 95/98 flavor os's. While Nvidia packs all the files for each OS into one nifty downloadable file, the actual files differ greatly between the platforms so I doubt that an eraser app for Win98 will do any good.Good luck,TX-Deck out.

Additional note....Under WinXP the Nvidia drivers are actually listed under Add/Remove programs within the control panel, and you can do a bundle uninstall when it comes time to reinstall the drivers. Uninstall the "app", reboot, and then install the new drivers. This may eliminate some of the driver corruption you might be seeing.Good luck janfot,TX-Deck out.
