Gentlemen,

Kingsnake ran across this demo for the game called Blackhawk down. Though a demo, its got online play which is pretty cool.

About 5 of us tore it up most of last night after training. GV and squad familiarity served us pretty well until we ran into another squad that apparently has been working together in FPS for longer than we have. They beat us down the first round, but the second was a long drawn out affair that we did very well at.

I suggest you download it and give it a try. I think I'm in the mood for a bit of a break before FB comes out and I've found this to be highly entertaining. Some neat features include a pretty lame sniper rifle (gets the job done eventually), a kick ass map with coordinates (Black 6's dream come true!) and a medic that can revive you unless you take a round to the head.

Its a pretty simple CTF style mission but there are multiple flag points and all kinds of things to hide in. The graphics are pretty tight and game play is relatively smooth.

Download the free demo here: (From Nvidia's site)

I highly recommend it.

Downloading it right now, BTW Rainbow 6's new Raven Shield isn't to shabby either. I love my flight sims, but I cut my teeth on FPS games, and still love em! In fact I used to play Delta Force Land Warrior alot and Blackhawk Down should be fun.   I took the liberty of using my TX-Raptor name in the Raven Shield demo which of course is online too I'll definately be buying Raven Shield  I have Ghost Recon also, so any of you guys that play these online gimme a shoutwork schedule permitting i'd love to join in some GV based teamwork~S all

Capture the flag gets old quick.  The standard FPS capture the flag games turn into chaotic bullet hosing fiestas when you reach 30 players. I really like the simplicity of this FPS and the smoothness of game play. The ping times get a bit high with 30 player games. I'll buy it if the full version has a cooperative multiplayer game. The city map for singleplayer looked really good. Fighting it out in the buildings of Mogadishu is action packed. Eco reccomended the game and he made a good call. He also said that the violence, gore and pace of the game mess with your head. I agree with him. I played the game all day and when I closed my eyes that night, I saw tracer fire and the words RPG! RPG! echoed in my head.B~TX-KingsnakeWhite 1

Yeah,  I am really a big flightless pacifist Emu. . . so it was a little too much in my face killin'Well, ok. . . thats true. . .but I did stay on last night till 3 am lurking under a bridge with that sniper rifle waiting for some dude to stop running around. I have also found that knife kills are easier when running around than trying to aim a gun. For some reason, I wanna go play right now. I really have sold my soul to the devil. . .. first I join a game that shoots planes out of the sky, then I start playing FPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!yes, join us!!About room size, I did run one last night at 32 players. . .and it seemed fine, until I noticed I was never hitting anything anymore. For some reason they seemed to hit me just fine.S!TX-EcoDragonCurrent mount: P-39 Q10Favorite Plane: BF109-G6A/Sand a bandit on my 6Most feared/resented FB addition: LA-7Characteristic noise during dive as reported by a third party witness: GGGGRRRRRRRBBBBBRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWK!!!

I don't recommend getting in games larger than 10 or 12 people. For starters since it is very difficult to spot the enemy at any kind of distance, you end up getting killed every 10 or 20 steps and sitting on your hands waiting to respawn. Another big reason to avoid the large games is respawn campers who set up on the hills around your base and snipe you as you respawn. Add to that 1 or 2 guys with automatic rifles running amok inside the perimeter and you pretty much have a bitch of a time turning it around. Meanwhile, a solitary jakus keeps picking up flags with no opposition since he can score at will while you are bogged down in the madness. Smaller games with even 4 people total can be quite intense...plenty of stalking, sneaking around and the anticipation of the horrifying single crack of a bullet waiting for you around every building, car and hill. You never know where the shot will come from but capping the flag is extremely intense because of that. As far as gore, I actually didn't notice any in the online game. Probably may not even bother with the offline game either, these days I'm all about net play exclusively. Anyways, give the game a look and see what you think. I don't feel this is going to replace IL2 or even come close to being the dominant game of my life, but for a week or two I think it'll be a nice way for me personally to take a break from those Uber Yaks and LA's. Black 5, this does not excuse you from flying wing with me in your 190. We agreed to tackle the beast, so we'll continue to suffer together. B~TX-ZenBlack 6TX Squadron CO

The King and I went to an "All weapons" room. . . . well they werent kidding now were they!! I also had a neat experience when something that looked like fireworks were fired at me. . .when the round hit the ground I was launched into the air and went over the armory only to land on my feet and keep on running!S!
