Hello TX'ers. Trying to go through the recruiting phase but having trouble with GV. Finally got the darn thing loaded (FYI...GV doesn't play well with NetNanny)  but now I'm having problems hearing people. Sometimes the other players voices are quite clear but most of the time they are garbled. Ranging from difficult to make out to completely unable to understand.

Any suggestions on how to clear this up? I've tried pretty much all of the compression setting to little or no avail (Modem compression seems to work best)

Any help much appreciated. You can also reach me at (jdosser@hotmail.com)

S~ OkieWhat kind of connection do you have ?GV does require some bandwidth for sure. Im on cable here, but I have , for the moment a shaky connect , and some nights GV is pretty garbled for me as well. TX-ShadowWhite 3

Currently I'm running IDSL. My pings are pretty good and the garbled-ness of the voice(s) doesn't appear to improve if I'm in or out of IL2.I'm wondering if voices I can/cannot hear are generally the same people and it could be a combo of my and thier connection?Does it help to reduce the no. of channels you are listening on instead of 'All'?

I think I may be qualified to answer that.  I would think the answer is no.  Since you are receiving a stream from my GV server and not directly from the person who's talking, the all button really has no bearing on if it's garbled or not.Do me a favor and go here to test your connection and then please post your results.http://www.dslreports.com/stest?loc=1Thanks mucho :)B~TX-Rahman"BLUE 2"P.S.  PLEASE ALSO NOTE:  My router was acting up early yesterday and on Saturday night.  I rebooted my router right before training last night.  If it was still hosed during training last night please let me know.

To tell ya the truth OkieCop I think it could be a hardware issue. I say this only because I have noticed your good pings, but I also usually see you as one those pulsating planes that lunges foreword and backward at a fairly fast frequency. This is probably compounded by GV. Maybe try setting compression to the highest setting of 1.4 kbit/sec and also try running GV in both High CPU Priority mode as well as low. And I also go into my task manager and shut down pretty much all background processes except those for the system. You mentioned NetNanny, not sure what this program is, but I say you should do a  fresh restart before running IL-2, and shut down all the other stuff. What sort of machine are you using? Processor, RAM???  I have seen the peculiar pulsating thing on many people who always seem to look like that to me, even with good pings, so I tend to think it may be a lower RAM or Processor thing, or perhaps a backgorund program. . .but that is just me hypothesizing. Also worth mentioning is that everyone was having a hard time with GV yesterday for bit there.S!TX-EcoDragonCurrent mount: P-39 Q10Favorite Plane: BF109-G6A/Sand a bandit on my 6Most feared/resented FB addition: LA-7Characteristic noise during dive as reported by a third party witness: GGGGRRRRRRRBBBBBRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWK!!!

Ok, after running the connection speed stuff here are my results.2003-03-03 19:47:34 EST: 1141 / 82Your download speed : 1141791 bps, or 1141 kbps.A 139.3 KB/sec transfer rate.Your upload speed : 82953 bps, or 82 kbps.Seems like broadband .. above the 1mbit barrier!I've seen this sie before and these results are good for me. They have been slower  on prior tests but not much.As to my setup, I'm running an AMD 1900+ clocked up to about 2100+ speed and 785 Meg ram.  Not sure why my display would be jumpy except for a background process running.BTW, netNanny is an internet filter that you can use to lockout certain sites. I use it for the kids....

Well, so you have a sweet machine, and good connection. . . the plot thickens!!Is it a big hassle to shut off NetNanny? If you shut it off at the task manager will it restore on the next reboot?? I have a noticable improvement if I kill background programs. Also, if you leave your machine on, or run various programs before loading up IL-2 there can be issues, do you do a clean restart before IL-2ing? Okie,          I had other similar but unrelated issues with GV.  Try this...  1. Click Start then Run.2. Now type DXDIAG in the line provided and hit enter3. Go to sound settings and change the sound hardware acceleration to "Basic Acceleration" from "Full Acceleration" it should be 2 notches back from full.4. Reboot your box and give that a shot.           Lemme know if that helps. B~TX-Rahman"BLUE 2"
