Got my RMA'd board back at 5pm today. Another Rev 1.04. Both the built in Eithernets are dead and 50% of the time when rebooting it only detects one of the two Serial ATA drives..... but hey, besides that I really love this board !!!!!!!

So far I have 2 typewritten pages of things to say to whoever answers the RMA line on Monday morning..Although I probably could cut it down to a paragraph and a half if I take out the swearing and references to 4 legged farm animals and the guy who packaged this board to send to me.

But still after reading how some guys are on their 4th RMA for this board ( over in nforcershq.com Asus section ) I feel much ahead of the game when I plan on just asking for them to refund my money and stick the board where it will make medical history.

" Dont worry....life's crappy ....."

P.S. On the back of the board, in the corner closest to the memory..is scratched "BB"

This means :
a) Best Board
b) Bad Board

Hmmmmmnnnnnn.....Huh?

P.P.S. We need a spell checker for this thing..I can't believe how bad my keyboard types at 4:15 in the AM !!!

Well, I got an hour and 25 mins of sleep and decided to tackle this problem again. Seems that the only NIC on the board that is TRULY hosed is the 3Com. I gave the Nvidia NIC a MAC address from my old SMC card and it works fine. The MAC address of the 3Com is hardwired and can't be changed and will not release and renew for nothin. Since I'm directly connected to a CUDA hub all I should have to do is power off the cable modem and the PC..let it sit for 5 mins..repower both and they should handshake and then I'm off and running. For whatever reason ( devine intervention just to screw with me ) the 3Com is locked with one default IP addy and will NOT release it.The problem with the SATA controller is still there...ramdomly on reboots will only recognize one of the two drives, but that may have to do with the SATA adapters themselves being touchy or the Western Digital Drive being overbearing. Seems that WD drives dont like to be set on Master when they are the only drive on a channel..they need to be set to auto detect and then they have a tendency to take over the system.Just posting this so if anyone with the same A7N8x borad comes up with these problems they can see how it was troubleshot.~S~ BKMay still go looking for a newer version of the board..I definately want the Serial ATA and when this board is on..it kicks ass !
