Okay all I went to Radio Shack and bought the Pots on Saturday came to 13.50. I know....I know .... there are cheaper places I could have ordered them through. I am a ham radio operator as well so I have friends that are hams that their professions are TV repairmen, Radio repairmen... so I can get pots cheaper (next time). I guess I just wanted to get underway LOL. I went out tonight and bought everything else. It all came to around 25 bucks. I must say though that I bought high quality wood and Brass Hinges as well as the one piece bottom drawer slides for the pedals instead of the two pieces (these are actually much heavier duty). I plan on getting it put together by the weekend if not then Saturday. I will let you know how it goes.S~TX-FlightRisk Black 3 S~TX-FlightRisk Black 3

I commend this homegrown approach. As an architect I particularly enjoy the 2x4s. Rendering a digital device with wood and pieces from the hardware store seems part mad scientist, part carpenter. The aesthetic is surreal.TX-KingsnakeWhite 1

Thanks King.Update..... Looks like I will be getting the gears needed from an old broken down Epson Stylus II Inkjet printer or an old broken paper shredder I have put up in the loft. Hmm the paper shredder is German...It will probably be the paper shredder.S~TX-FlightRisk Black 3

Okay I got the gears but from an outdated mustek scanner. The cool thing is that the cables inside for moving the bulb back and forth are steel and very workable like thread but strong as a rope. There are two and they are each 20" long. I think I'll use these instead of a strong string on the toe brake pots...wont ever have to replace them and they already have steel eyes on each end.S~TX-FlightRisk Black 3

....OK, You guys have really caught my interest here!...What is with the Roland effects pedal labeled "A" in the first pic? Using it as a switch only or something else?....I have a ton of effects pedals here that if I undertake this project I would have to utilize.....and say if a regular switch would do the job...would a Dan Electro pedal make me more lethal while using them??.....LOL...couldn't resist...B~Rocky...TX-CUDA on UBITX-CUDA on HyperLobby

You know. . these CH pedals are really quite simple inside. . just lots of low quality thread thick wires. . two of which were broken . . Im just gonna rebuild them ..  I already did a shoddy job of it. . but I will take the time and refurb them .. and then not worry about it. . I would rather that anyway. . who cares about the warranty. . CH isnt doing me any good as it is.  . and I cant blame fry's for not wanting to deal with it after 7 months or so. Plus I can finally file off those stupid heel cups they put on them. As I will have already voided my warranty!Oh. . and Cuda. . that roland pedal is the parking brake of course!!S!TX-EcoDragonBlack 1TX Squadron XO

Hey there Cuda. Its A footswitch to make' contact, 'open' in rest positionHe says use any kind, and figure out how to mount them. He used an old footswitch from his guitar synthesiser .UPDATE........I've gotten all the parts cut down with my trusty table and chop saws!!!It's gonna be cool. I will assemble tomorrow...as long as a hurricane does not roll into Kentucky and wipe me out ....LOLI've found that when you try to print the instructions it cuts the pictures up on the web so I have made a word doc with all the pictures and page breaks set. Here it is.http://home.insightbb.com/~r.d.sizemore/How_to_rudders.docS~TX-FlightRisk Black 3

I think I may cover the Wooden pedals with Black mouse pad material. It will be easy on the ole sock feet but yet not grabby like something thats all rubber. They are only 99¢ each and will make it look more ........Rudderish .....!  lolS~TX-FlightRisk Black 3

I'm not going to comment, for fear of catching one of those 7.62's on the right, in the arse.Seriously, those pedals look real good, and the stain was a nice effect.  I bet there was a point in construction where you sat back, glanced over at the shelf and saw the stain sitting there, and thought "what the heck."Again, good job, let us know how well they work after you've had some time to get used to them.TX-Deck out.
