Hey guys,

I just thought I would introduce you guys here. The UC Davis student who I am mentoring (been taking him flying, studying regs etc.) is big into aviation, he has a nice .90 size Aeroworks Edge 540 R/C and plans on starting his full scale flight training in the upcoming months. I told him about IL-2 and FB and that he needs to try this sim out!! He saw the PAV page and likes the idea of doing some formation and aerobatics stuff in a sim that can do it, so last night I helped him set up the programs and it looks like IL-2 runs well on his machine but FB was iffy when online. We shall see. He is running a 993 Mhz Proc, 256 of ram, and a GF 2 GTS/256 so I think he is a candidate for the Skypat .dll's

Anyway, his login name is Hwkmn, I will be setting him up with GV tonight, and probably doing some online flying with him. Just giving you guys the heads up in the event you see a new name on gv or in our servers you dont have to wonder who this dude is and if he is trespassing!

He has a knack for the sim, and may become a lethal 190 driver any day now!  Thus far he hasnt flown anything but the 190 so in my book he is off to a great start ;-)

(do not be tempted by the dark side Hwkmn. . . remember yak's are for milking, carying heavy packs through rough terrain, and getting wool from. . . oh and for shooting down into itty bitty pieces)

BTW: so tornado can be comfortable with him, his name is Ben, he is an Aeronautical and mechanical Engineering student at UC Davis, and we have flown together in the  real world a few times, this last training I missed we flew to Paso Robles (down south) and I visited my father, and he met up with some friends to go motorcycle racing.  . . how fast you  ask??   lets just say that on that day, he apparently went faster on the ground than in the plane. . lolololol

( I shoulda taken the retractable gear model)

I noticed that the Microsoft GV page appears to be down. . .  I did manage to find the freeware version of the GV software at some german site. . .http://www.pctip.ch/downloads/dl/17146.aspIt appears to be GV version 1.5, so run the virus checker on it, then disable the virus scan, install, and your off and running!S!TX-EcoDragonBlack 1TX Squadron XO

For the sake of maintaining our SOP mongering I have decided to employ that old idea about giving guests a callsign that is easy for us all to use, instead of just going without a hollywood callsign. . . so he is going with Green 1   This guy has some mad skillz at the formation flying. . . and you should all be glad he's here so I can get some of my formation aerobatics  inclinations out of my system so I can focus more on dueling the bad guys again! If he is online and on GV without me, he is probably dabbling in the combat aspects of the sim so wing up with him. . . and let me know how he does  ;-)S!TX-EcoDragonBlack 1TX Squadron XO

Just an Update. . . Ben succesfully passed his Private Pilot Checkride on July 29, 2003, and went straight into his Instrument rating, he passed his Instrument Checkride on March 5, 2004.S!TX-EcoDragonBlack 1TX Squadron XO
