Good to hear ya Zen!  How'd you get past the turrets?
I completely agree with the position she is not worthy of a Star. That's a no-brainer. What I am troubled with is BK throwing away his history over it. Politics is a fact of life and frequently it means things happen for a perceived public good, regardless of merit. Right or wrong, politicians have a duty to make themselves and the country look good. Sometimes they miscalculate, as I think they have done here. Does this instance of farsightedness completely diminish the true heroes who have received meritous honor? I don't think so. I can separate farce from truth and recognize the majority of those who have received medals made great sacrafice to earn them and are well deserving. That still matters to me. Although I respect your views and respect your actions even more BK, I can't fathom giving up something as you have when I can only dream about doing the same. I haven't served in the military and never will, so giving up something I can never have is hard to swallow. For that, you are more of a hero to me than Prv. Lynch will ever be. Perhaps I'm a bit more materialistic, but that's why I wish you'd keep your medals--because they do still matter to me. I can only look at one with a bit of awe and wonderment. Obviously, you see something different, which I understand and have complete respect for.Seeker

Maybe what I have said earlier is not getting thu poperly..let me try again. For anything that one receives in life ( a medal for example )..does only HAVING that medal STILL in your possesion justify what you did to earn it ? Or can the mear fact that you KNOW what you did and you know you earned it be good enough ?I chose the latter... I know what I did to accomplish a certain feat/goal and having a warm fuzzy to hold onto does not enhance that knowledge.I chose to make a stand ( for what or what it is not worth ) and if by doing what I did causes one more eye to be opened then great.Look at it this way....You bust your ass to get a 'C' in a class ( my medals etc... )The next semester the teacher changes the grading system and if you ONLY show up to the class you get a "B". If you do ANY homework at all you get an "A".Thats how the US government lessoned my awards. They took something harder to earn and was once a really nice "atta-boy"..and GAVE it away. If the prizes that were on the TOP shelf are now lowered to the next to bottom shelf what does that make the prizes on the bottom shelf look like ? ( picture in your mind the carnival prize shelves..... )My last post on this subject.~S~ Zenster !!! ( and everyone else also )BK
