Bowling for Columbine was a Michael Moore special, and I wouldn’t  believe a word of his propaganda pieces. The thing is that the Assault Weapons Ban has been in effect for ten years.  If it had made a difference they would be beating us over the head with those facts.  I’ll bet that everyone here has collected one type of weapon or another.   Eco and King have there spears that I can only assume they use for hunting elk.  I like Copper have a flintlock that makes no sense as a hunting or home defense weapon but like most weapons it has historical significance and is just plain fun to shoot.  Some day they will want to ban those too.Automatic gun owners are much the same, I just consider them at the high end of this hobby. Of all the collectors of auto weapons that I know I have never heard any of them justify them as hunting weapons.  I know one guy who actually does hunt with an AR15 but per the law he has to covert it to semi-auto with either a four or five round magazine and he totally agrees with this.  Their 30 round mag’s are for the firing range only.  These are good sane people who have passed the FBI and ATF background checks, not the loonies that Michael Moore would have you believe.   Hell I would like to own one too but just not bad enough to spend the 400 dollars annually for the license. One mans freedom will always be seen as a threat by someone else.  One week its automatic weapons the next it could be karate classes.  Clearly the object of Karate is learning how to beat the crap out of someone who doesn’t know Karate, so why should this be allowed?  The point is some people always feel threatened by others and they are finding ways to take your choices away.  Any weapon in the wrong hands has the potential to do damage, but I would rather see us just enforce the laws we have and get rid of the layers as you say.  I am more scared of the criminals with weapons or of the foreign exchange student here taking bio chemistry or nuclear physics.
