I have an A/B pit but only use the seat section. I've mounted my Dell 27" on an articulating wall-mount. Also, I mounted my keyboard on an articulating arm to allow for easier access in and out of the pit. My Wife installed a small fridge next to my pit and thought it would be funny. I showed her though when I put a 6-pack of MGD in it and used it as a printer stand.

The thing I've always envied about your pit TB - is the ashtray!!!!!!

I finally got a wireless headset over Xmas so I could listen in on comms while I smoke!

What I love is the articulating telescopic arm for the display!

(a delayed response):

Well, the P-47 actually had an ashtray in it as well, so for even more immersion, I planted one in mine too.  Cool

I took some progressive pictures when I first got the monitor installed to show some of the flexibility and just how many options could be employed with it. At native 1920x1200, I can also watch true HD on it (but I don't very often since I use the PS3 and 42" LCD for that). The monitor mount was actually an easier application than the articulating keyboard arm and I ended up find that on ebay once I had researched the exact one I wanted to use. I got it at a greatly reduced price, but it was still a bit pricey. Nonetheless, I really like the comfort of the ratched seat and the ergonomic positioning of my controllers, keyboard and monitor. It works well for me.

p.s. The headphones on the back of the seat are some Altec-Lansing corded phones I was experimenting with for my TV before deciding whether or not to plonk down 2 bills for some wireless ones...which I haven't. They have nothing to do with my pit setup. My Sennheisers are sitting on top of the pc case.   Wink

I have the same pair of Altec Lansings, except that one of the little wires within the inline volume control became open and I have never soldered it back.

Now that I have wireless phones - I'll fix them one day for back up.

How do you like the Sennheisers?  At one time I was looking at a pair that was about 120 bucks.

I've been reviewing headphones for some months - the almost universally agreed apon best gaming headphones are these:

http://www.amazon.com/Technica-ATH-AD700-Open-air-Dynamic-Headphones/dp/B000CMS0XU/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1233007081&sr=8-2

The cheaper routes are these: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_e?url=search-alias%3Delectronics&field-keywords=jvc+harx

You then need to get the clip on mic from Zalman for a true headset.

Of course most gamers are worried about the size of the soundstage since they are looking for an edge in determining acoustic directionality. . .I think that would still be important in our flight sims, and of course its great for maintaining the distinctiveness of multi layered sounds but of course the more realistic the sim becomes, the less important it will be. As I've always said, hearing another plane is near impossible in most cases when in flight in the real world.

Mine are the pc350's and they are really, really well-made with all the nice little touches (i.e. over the ear, inline mic mute and volume control). They were about $150 and out of the box are better than the studio AKG's I still have as backups.

I've thus far held off on placing an order for any pc headsets despite having a set of 2.1 junk speakers, and a painful (since the foam has long since fallen off the headphones) and trashed in most every way MS GameVoice headset that I use for the mic. I got REAL close to getting those AudioTechnica cans, but just didn't wanna spend the cash on em. I've also been thinking that my Lightspeed Zulus are plenty light and have minimal clamping pressure, I'm half interested in just using those - but it would suck to accelerate the rate of wear on tear on them. . .oh decisions. . .decisions. . .
