Just fyi guys...  A Korean company named VRInsight who makes all sorts of hardware for FlightSim, etc. has come out with a head tracking device named Hat-Trick.  It's 6DOF and is half the price of a TrackIR 4 Pro and comes with something that looks like the $39 Track Clip Pro.

I don't have a Hat-Trick so I can't say how it works.

Thanks Rah.  Maybe TrackIR will finally have some competition.

Interesting. I wondered how long it would be before someone actually brought something to market that actually directly competes with the TIR and while this rig looks to be targeted more for the "budget-oriented" crowd, there's no reason not to look into it further if you're in the market for head-tracking hardware.

I thought it interesting that the reviewer did a section on a direct comparison with TIR, yet admitted he didn't own TIR. hmmm.  Roll Eyes

Either way, competition is usually only a good thing for the consumer.

Thanks for posting.

It's certainly nice to give TrackIR some competition. . .though that review concludes with the reviewer stating that if users use sims other than FSX that they would lean towards the TrackIR, but for MSFS only the Hat Track is fine.

Any links to a good online e-tailer for the TIR5?

I used magnum-pc last time but can't find their info any more...and newegg doesn't carry them yet.

NAtural point has some promos that get it to 149 plus shipping, and gogamer.com has it for 149 with free shipping. . .and with rFactor and some sort of BOBII game.

Ordered TrackIR 5 yesterday. $149.00 from PC Aviator and they're only in SC. I got USPS Ground shipping so I may see it this week. More likely next Tuesday or Wednesday though.
