Gentlemen,
What do we think of our current server settings of superman view and no overheat?
The past few weeks I have noticed that nearly every server in the UBI lobby has easier settings. I am recommending we return to full cockpit with externals enabled and have overheat off. Since we have all AI planes enabled I think it would give them a better chance to make it to base.
Suggestions?

I have noticed a lot of newbie’s on the server lately; current server settings no doubt play some part in this. I don’t’ know how tough or much trouble it would be to keep switching settings but would it be feasible to say schedule the server to run in superman two nights as week. That would make the server more appealing to everyone at the same time it would offer a break from full real. Other than that no objections going back to FR.TX-ChukarBlue 1

Although I'm not flying much right now, I think if superman were left on, the server popularity would keep increasing, and due to the extended absence in the last few months this is something we can afford.Overheat off gives the German planes a little more even battleground to fight on, always a nice bonus. My $.02TX-Deck out.

I like to see the server settings change on a weekly basis. It keeps it interesting. Also, we all like different things and this will keep some of us happy some of the time. You can't please everyone.B~TX-KingsnakeWhite 1

I'm flexible, FR, superman, whichever but IF you have AI, it's a must to have externals, and as for the overheat, tends to make one manage their engine for sure. Anyways, S~ all.TX-TornadoBlue 3TX Squadron TOB~

well. . .it would be really cool if the script could change settings. . .I think that the bad weather maps give the bombers a pretty good chance of getting to the objective, as the icon range (and those dastardly heat seeking arrows) only show up when you are fairly close to the target. On the other hand I have grown partial to slightly "harder" settings myself, but I think this server is popular becasue it is smooth and fun for many of the newer folks who like the superman view, and dont want to have to think about engine managment. It is also nice to have overheat off in big fat slow planes like the Pe-8, IL-2 and . . ahem . . .P-39. (the 109 sure has the upper hand in there though!!)I guess the things I think need to be dealt with are:1) auto kick off (it doesnt boot the laggers, and does boot Shadow)2) shorten range of the icons (one of them has no clouds at all and icons at 18K!!)3) troubleshoot scripts that rotate too often (less than an hour) and those that rotatee immediately after a new map pops up.4) Maybe look at leaving Externals on, but locking cockpit (then again .. we already have a GR server)That is all of my thoughts, which I really shouldnt be writing, as I am gonna fail my midterm in the morning!!!!S!TX-ProcrastinatorDragonBlack 2,3,4Current mount: P-39 Q10Favorite Plane: BF109-G6A/Sand a bandit on my 6Most feared/resented FB addition: LA-7Characteristic noise during dive as reported by a third party witness: GGGGRRRRRRRBBBBBRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWK!!!

S~ Zen,Well , Since you guys turned off the autokick, I havent Ever been kicked from our server !!!!!!!!!!!! SSHWEEEET ! I am able to get past the problem with my connection and stay in for hours on end , which now allows me to be on an even playing field.(Shadow Salutes)Thankyou !As for the superman thing , I dont even know what that is , so I have no comment.I seriously enjoy the open cockpit myself. I almost always fly with it , for obvious reasons.Externals are really nice as well. I think the realism of overheat is a great thing though.I have had several people on the server request that the map not change every hour though. Some people dont think thats long enough for a map. I personally think its just right , but I told them Id pass the info along. We just need to get that 2.53 ghz machine set now . :-)Thats my 2 cents.Cya all up there,S~TX-ShadowWhite 2

I think changing the server settings every week or two weeks is a reasonable idea, as well as not making the server a permanent full real type place. I still enjoy superman view, but really don't like to play that way all the time. It appears the new scripts are working properly. Instead of 1 large script we now have 5 smaller ones, one for each map. When the last script executes, it runs script #1 and starts the cycle over. The icon settings can be changed per map just as before (and we can change the 18K dot range on the one you were talking about Eco). The good part is that by using multiple scripts you can change things on the fly or jump directly to whatever mission you like instead of having to wait for the whole thing to run its course. Changing on the fly will probably have to wait for the new server because ours has a problem doing anything while IL2 is running, but the possibility is there at least. I'm sure it will come in handy later on. I think the problem map was Crimea_Rain, I changed the rotation and have not seen anything unusual so far. People have been complaining too much about the rain maps or the night map and so I minimized how many there are. I like them alot but its probably more trouble than its worth to keep them as primary missions. We still have one rain map in the rotation though. The new rotation is approximately 2 hours long and I haven't seen any missions cycle too fast since the new scripts were introduced. But please keep some documentation for when you do see unusual things and we can isolate further incidents as they occur. I would prefer to keep externals on as well. Not only does it help the bombers but we have the ability to view skins, watch the action etc. The disadvantage of people using external padlock to avoid blackouts is there but thats been a constant as far back as I can remember and I still don't think its a problem so large that it hampers game play. I'd summarize then by saying maybe we should rotate the settings between cockpit and superman, leave externals on and perhaps eliminate no-overheat. The maps rotate about every 2 hours now and autokick has been removed. The problem maps in the rotation have been removed and the server appears to be running normally. Thanks gentlemen for your input. Hopefully the thread will stay active with community input also. I would ask that while you are on the server to encourage our players to stop by the website and post their thoughts. S~TX-ZenBlack 6TX Squadron CO

I notcied the I16's werent available last night, or at least on the map with the thunderstorm any reason in particular? I know some don't like the lil thing, but many do just curious. Oh and how aboout one night a week with Icons off full realism? no externals etc etc ? think that would scare too many people away?

Generally speaking TX doesn't care for the I16...we've had it removed since the early days of running the server. I suppose that these days it probably doesn't matter anymore, but we haven't added it out of habit. I don't think many of us are too keen on FR no icons and I definately think it would hurt our attendance. Deck had a good point about the easier settings working in our favor due to the downtime we had until recently.TX-ZenBlack 6TX Squadron CO

The full real rooms arent usually too crowded in UBI. . sadly, but I have lately been really wanting to get back into hosting maps. As such I will be doing many Full real, rough weather maps. . . the question then is. . . .who is man enough to fly them . . .muahhahahahahahahahhahahaahto tell ya the truth, I think they are great great great fun, but the time between action can be terribly long, and many sorties flown result in no contacts whatsoever. . . so only a certain variety of flight simmers (and even fewer "gamers") will like this style.I for one Zen, have onlt heard negative comments about the night and thunderstorm missions from one person . . . who had no idea how to fly his plane even if the weather was good. Most people though have made comments that they really liked the variety, and that they appreciated a new challenge. One thing I am curious about is if some people have different gamma settings or something, as I sometimes hear people say they cant see anything, that they cant see the ground when they are sitting on it, and to me this is odd since even on the darkest night map I can still usually see a fair distance. . . and of course we have big glowing labels on each plane so ID of the enemy shouldnt be an issue. This made me wonder if there is some significant variation in different people's setups that would make it significantly harder for some to see than others.S!TX-EcoDragonCurrent mount: P-39 Q10Favorite Plane: BF109-G6A/Sand a bandit on my 6Most feared/resented FB addition: LA-7Characteristic noise during dive as reported by a third party witness: GGGGRRRRRRRBBBBBRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWK!!!

Maybe Eco, because I am one of those who can't see enough to make it worth playing, even with all the lights out in the room. I have beem passing on night maps for this reason. I'll try tweaking it next time.TX-ChukarBlue 1

I think that it is necessary to have the superman view. The main reason I pick the TX server over GR//142 is for that one reason. I can live with overheat, and CEM until I learn how to use it properly, but I gotta have that view! As far as newbs are concerned, I think that the limited ammo makes them learn real fast how to shoot, and how to fly. Anyways, thats my two cents.
